Another High Line for NYC

The Embankment Preservation Coalition

This time it’s New Jersey who are looking to re-use a derelict site. The old Pennsylvania Rail Road that ran down to the Hudson Waterfront could be a new outstanding elevated park at the Harsimus Stem Embankment section. It’s been caught up in legal battles for the past 13 years, but The Embankment Preservation Coalition are determined to save it and see it put to better uses. Trains stopped running along here in the 1990s, and wildlife is already encroaching making it a wilderness, but think what could be achieved with funding for pedestrian tracks and cycleways through this charming green corridor.Considering the overwhelming success of Manhattan’s Highline, it is surely only a matter of time before this project gets the green light.
